Army not hiding Hague indictees

He also said that Del Ponte commended other activities the ministry undertook and will undertake in relation to the documents the Hague Tribunal had demanded.

“Our job is to look into every allegation that could indicate that the Hague fugitives may be hiding in military facilities, or may be aided by any member of military personnel,” Šutanovac said.

He added that the Defense Ministry did not partake in the arrest of Bosnian Serb General Zdravko Tolimir.

As for the security situation in southern Serbia, Šutanovac described it as stable, stressing that the Serbian Army was ready for all the challenges that may lie ahead.

Šutanovac explained that his ministry’s priorities included a continuation of the professionalization of the Army, improvements to the social position of military staff, and increased training opportunities abroad for a large number of Serbian Army officers.
