Indictment in Customs Mafia case
“We are talking about the import of huge amount of commercial goods from China, Turkey, Bulgaria and Macedonia,” Zorić said, adding that the group used various modes of operation, but the most common means of shipping were in 15 to 30 ton capacity trailer trucks.“According to our findings, several hundred of such trucks loaded with goods entered Serbia, while the accompanying papers said they were only in transit, on their way to end destinations, while they actually unloaded the goods in Serbia ” Zorić explained.
He added that the group imported textile and other products mostly from Turkey, in trailer trucks crossing the administrative boundary with Kosovo at Rudnica, to be delivered to a Kosovo-based company which, according to the documentation, was the importer of goods.
“However, the goods then went back to Serbia through illegal channels. The alleged importer to Kosovo is entitled to tax return, which means that the offenders damaged the state by evading customs taxation, obtaining tax return for goods that ended in Serbia instead of in Kosovo,” Zorić said.
