As he stated, those two countries are permanently referred to each other, and Croatia remains the best friend of the neighboring country and its advocate in the bodies of the European Union.

Plenković is leading a delegation of the Government on an official visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina, and immediately after arriving in Sarajevo, he met with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Zoran Tegeltija, and his ministers.

The visit was organized at a time when Bosnia-Herzegovina is facing the biggest domestic political crisis since the war, caused by attempts by Republika Srpska authorities to separate the entity from the country's constitutional and legal order.

After talks between the two governments, Plenković told reporters that Croatia was following developments in BiH with great attention, so his first message was that Croatia is a friend and partner who wants to improve cooperation with Bosnia-Herzegovina, support the country's integrity and equality of its two entities and three peoples.

"We would like BiH institutions to be functional," Plenković said, commenting on the conclusions of the RS parliament, which last week paved the way for the repeal of some important laws at the state level.

He said that it was necessary to see how much of a maneuver it was, and how real the desire was to endanger the survival of BiH.

Plenković pointed out that Croatia does not want to see separatist tendencies in BiH, and that he expects that the Dayton Agreement will be fully respected.

He added that it is extremely important for Croatia to see that Croats, as the smallest constituent people, are guaranteed all rights, including the new election law, which should be the result of an internal agreement when the elections are called.

"We are not satisfied with the practice that has existed since 2006 and which is an obstacle in the institutional cooperation between Croatia and BiH," Plenković said, alluding to the fact that the summit had not been held for years because Croatia does not recognize the legitimacy of Željko Komšić.

He confirmed that Croatia is ready to help Bosnia-Herzegovina on the path of European and Atlantic integration, improvement of economic cooperation, work on improvement of infrastructural connections, as well as connections in the energy sector.
