RS independence referendum "to be discussed at later date"

"As a responsible political party, taking into account international circumstances and a lack of consensus within the RS - since it's impossible to secure consensus on any issue with the members of the (opposition) Alliance for Changes - the SNS thinks the issue should be considered at a later date," he said in the town of Bijeljina, where the party held a two-day conference.

Beta noted in its report that in 2015, the SNSD Assembly passed a declaration "heralding a referendum on RS independence in 2018, which was strongly criticized by the international community."

Dodik now "underlined that the referendum on the entity's status has been postponed for later, lest it created a rift within its society."
