According to Albania's prosecutor-general, Adriatik Llalla, U.S. Ambassador in Tirana Donald Lu is guilty of "undiplomatic attacks and blackmail."

Albanian prosecutor-general blasts U.S. ambassador

Llalla accused Lu of "totally undiplomatic attacks" and using blackmail to try to get an investigation into an international company closed, the agency said.

"Such pressure from the U.S. smbassador in Tirana... tries to manipulate public opinion and devalue the institutions," Llalla said in a statement emailed to the AP.

According to the Albanian Daily News website, Llalla also revealed that the U.S. embassy refused to issue U.S. visas to him and other high-ranking prosecution officials.

On Thursday, Albanian President Bujar Nishan refused to receive the U.S. ambassador, although the diplomat did meet with the country's prime minister, Edi Rama.
