Bosnia-based website klix.ba is reporting that members of the police marched with rifles, while intersection were blocked with armored vehicles armed with machine guns.

According to President of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the OSBiH, that was lined up on Banja Luka on Sunday, will not take part in the parade.

RS flags and posters inviting citizens to take part in the January 9 celebrations have also been seen around the city.

A ceremonial reception and academy will also be held, with hundreds of media representatives from Bosnia and the region set to report from the events.

About 1,000 police officers have been deployed to provide security in Banja Luka, whose main streets will be closed on Monday.

Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said that he and several other cabinet ministers will take part in the RS Day celebration, while the prime minister will miss it "since he has important meetings in India."

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic earlier also announced his trip to Banja Luka.
