"4,500-year-old artifacts left behind in migrant camp"
The preliminary expert evaluation shows that these objects are allegedly 4,500 years old, Slovenia's POP-TV broadcaster said.As they have been found to be of great artistic and historical value, the objects have been handed over to an ethnographic museum. The police suspect that the case involves illegal trade in foreign cultural heritage, so they launched procedures against unknown perpetrators, Croatian agency Hina has reported.
The police in the Slovenian town of Maribor said that the local museum's curator believes the alabaster objects were made in the era "before Christ" and "could originate from Syria or Iraq."
The police are for now refusing to publish the photographs of these objects, as the investigation into the suspected illegal trade is still ongoing.
The data on the statuettes has been sent to the Interpol.
