Two people died in a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that caused extensive damage on the island of Lefkada, in southwestern Greece, AP has reported.

The earthquake was felt along the western part of the country to the border with Albania, in the Peloponnese, and in Athens.Firefighters said that an 82-year-old woman died in the village of Athani when a wall collapsed on her, while the second victim, a 69-year-old woman died in her home in another village when a boulder tumbled down onto her house.
Four others were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, AP said.
The agency quoted state TV ERT that reported a part of the harbor of Vassiliki was submerged in the sea. Schools were shut on both Lefkada and Kefalonia as a precaution.
