Refugees continue to cross Serbia-Croatia border illegally
The Croatian police are collecting them along the so-called green border and taking them to the town of Tovarnik.According to the latest data available on Friday morning, since Wednesday more than 13,000 migrants and refugees from the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, traveling on the so-called Balkan Route entered Croatia on their way to Western Europe.
In Tovarnik, near the border with Serbia, several thousand are still waiting for buses that should take them to one of the reception centers in Croatia.
According to RTS, there is not enough water and food there for the refugees who spent the night in the open or in small tents.
The most difficult situation this morning is in the former barracks in Beli Manastir that has the capacity to accept 1,200 people, and where between 6,000 and 8,000 have arrived. Local officials describe the situation as "chaotic."
However, refugees will not stay long in that town. A large group started toward Osijek on foot this morning, where they will take buses and trains to Zagreb, and then proceed toward Slovenian, Croatian media are reporting.
Despite announcing last night they would turn refugees traveling on a train back to Croatia, Slovenian police this morning allowed around 150 people to enter the country, Croatia's Index website said on Friday.
