A judgment in a dispute before the ICJ comprising a Croatian claim against Serbia and a Serbian counter claim of genocide will be reached by February.

ICJ to rule in Croatia-Serbia dispute by February

Submitting his annual report on the work of the ICJ to the UN, Tomka said that the judgment would be made before one third of the ICJ judges were replaced in February, in the elections taking place every three years to ensure continuity within the court, Belgrade-based daily Politika said.

The public hearings in the case concerning the genocide charges instituted by Croatia against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) in 1999 and the countercharges which Serbia, as the legal successor to the FRY, filed in 2010, was held from March 3 to April 1 this year.

The Court has been in deliberation since.
