OSCE condemns bomb attack on media outlet

VIENNA OSCE media freedom representative Dunja Mijatovic has condemned yesterday’s bomb attack against the offices of Vijesti newspaper in Podgorica, Montenegro. The attack resulted in material damage. OSCE condemns bomb attack on media outlet “I strongly condemn this attack and call on authorities to carry out a swift and transparent investigation that will lead to the identification and prosecution of the perpetrators,” Mijatovic said. Vijesti has been the target of multiple attacks in recent months. In October and November the newspaper’s offices were vandalized and in August a bomb detonated close to Vijesti journalist Tufik Softic’s house. In addition, arson attacks on Vijesti vehicles in 2011 still remain unsolved, the OSCE said in a statement on Friday. “The fact that no one has been prosecuted for any of these attacks sends a message of impunity. Only a swift prosecution of all those responsible for these criminal acts can help to ensure that similar attacks not will be repeated,” Mijatovic said.
