ZAGREB President Ivo Josipovic has confirmed that Croatia has exported 200 tons of arms to Jordan in 2012 and reiterated that weapons have not been exported to Syria. He added, however, that Croatia could not control what happened to the weapons afterward. “Croatia exported weapons to Jordan, not Syria” “I know about all legal arms transfers or anything that concerns armed forces,” the president said commenting on UN information that Croatia sold more than two tons of weapons worth USD 6.5mn to Jordan in 2012. Josipovic once again pointed out that weapons were not sold to Syria. “What third countries or countries that we or someone else export weapons to do with them afterward, we unfortunately cannot control,” he said when asked if he could confirm that the arms had stayed in Jordan and that they had not ended up in the hands of Syrian rebels. Rijeka-base daily Novi list reported earlier on Saturday that the weapons had probably ended up in the hands of the Syrian rebels. The daily writes that Jordan does not need Croatia’s weapons since it already has modern equipment and weapons and that the military equipment was transferred to Syria. (Beta/AP, file) Jutranji list
