ZAGREB Rijeka Mayor Vojko Obersnel has criticized announcements of Slovenian FM Karl Erjavec that Croatia “may never join the EU”. “Slovenians say we may never join the EU. It is time for someone to finally tell them – maybe we will not join the EU but you will not have the Adriatic Sea either,” Obersnel said on his Twitter account. Slovenia, Croatia trade harsh words on Twitter Obersnel referred to the border issue between the two countries regarding the Gulf of Piran. The argument on Twitter was caused by Erjavec’s statement that if a solution is not found for bank Ljubljanska Banka, Croatia will not join the EU on July 1 and that its accession will be under a question mark due to the general situation in the Union.
