Slovenian MPs have elected a new PM-designate, two months after early parliamentary elections. The Slovenian parliament elected Slovenian Democratic Party leader Janez Jansa as a PM-designate with 51 votes in favor and 39 votes against. Slovenian parliament chooses PM-designate This is the second time he has an opportunity to form a government and become the country’s prime minister. All parliamentary parties, except for Zoran Jankovic's Positive Slovenia and former Prime Minister Borut Pahor's Social Democrats, proposed Jansa for the position. The parties supporting Jansa have already signed a coalition agreement and the new PM-designate is expected to present a list of candidates for future ministers. Slovenian parliament chooses PM-designate

This is the second time he has an opportunity to form a government and become the country’s prime minister.

All parliamentary parties, except for Zoran Janković's Positive Slovenia and former Prime Minister Borut Pahor's Social Democrats, proposed Janša for the position.

The parties supporting Janša have already signed a coalition agreement and the new PM-designate is expected to present a list of candidates for future ministers.

The Slovenian parliament should discuss the new government in the beginning of February.
