Serbia, Montenegro have “common EU future”

Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro (DPS) leader Milo Djukanovic has said that Serbia and Montenegro have close ties and common strategic goals. “We have close historical ties with Serbia but also common strategic goals for the future, as a part of tendencies of all Western Balkans countries for the European Union accession,” he said in a letter to participants of Montenegrin Party election assembly in Novi Sad. Social Democratic Party of Montenegro leader Ranko Krivokapić said that the Montenegrin community in Serbia “has to fight for its name, identity and right to existence today”.

He said that the Montenegrin community in Serbia could become a bridge of cooperation between the two countries “that are connected by many things and divided only by a wish of one of them to run one the other as well”.

“The time ahead of us guarantees that problems will be solved in a way appropriate to the European value system and that the state of Serbia will treat its citizens with respect of their differences and guarantee all of their rights,” Krivokapić stressed.
