Situation in Slovenian Krsko Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) has normalized and the plant has been reconnected to the power line. The Slovenian nuclear power plant automatically shut down for safety reasons earlier today. Slovenian nuclear plant back in service There should be no environmental consequences, reports say. According to preliminary information, the nuclear power plant shut down around 10:30 because a 380 kV power line that leads to Zagreb was suddenly disconnected. The plant’s website stated earlier today that “abnormal event of zero degree” had been declared in accordance with the protection and rescue plan and that competent Slovenian authorities for environmental protection had been informed. The plant’s employees claim that the nuclear power plant was shut down safely and that it did not affect the environment. Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration has stated that it is assumed that one of the switches disconnected, cutting off connection with the transmission line which led to the automatic shutdown. The Nuclear Safety Administration immediately declared a state of emergency in accordance with the procedure, but it was revoked after the inspection of the nuclear power plant.
