The Montenegrin parliament speaker has accused the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) of "destroying the state of Montenegro". The SPC is making this endeavor by means of putting up a tin church on top of Mt. Rumija, near the town of Bar, according to Rajko Krivokapic. Serbian Church "destroying Montenegro" The church on Rumija is a structure to destroy the multi-ethnic Montenegro," he told Radio Montenegro. Krivokapic went on to say that "all other structures that the SPC built illegally should be treated as illegal buildings", while the Rumija church is "political". The speaker asserted that the top of Mt. Rumija is a holy place, for worshipers of "all three religions" in Bar and in Montenegro. They all "traditionally carried rocks up to the top of Rumija", explained Krivokapic, but now that the SPC tin church is in place, "aggression was perpetrated against that holy place". This aggression, the Montenegrin parliament speaker explained, had been going on for two decades. Krivokapic accused the SPC of not respecting the Constitution, laws, or the state of Montenegro, and of affording the same treatment to the Montenegrin nation. "That happens nowhere and is completely unthinkable," said he. Krivokapic also warned that SPC Metropolitan Amfilohije must be taken to courts, because of his statements related to the church. Amfilohije recently stated that if the church on Rumija was to be brought down, there would be persons who would bring down a mosque, and cursed all those who wished to destroy the church. Krivokapic told the radio that this was a threat of "bloodshed".
