Serbia, Montenegro start extradition talks According to Homen, the two countries have agreed to allow extradition of persons who committed the most serious criminal acts, which include organised crime, corruption, money laundry and war crimes. Talks regarding other crimes which should be covered in the agreement will be continued on Monday, Homen said, and added that the talks are likely to be completed in the course of next week. Homen stated that representatives of the Montenegrin Justice Ministry have expressed willingness to have the agreement “drafted, signed and implemented as soon as mid-October.” “The agreement is extremely important, as the Serbian Prosecutor's Office for Organised Crime is requesting that Montenegro extradites a certain number of offenders who have been evading arrest and trial for a while now because they hold dual citizenship,” Homen said. One of the most important indictees who are currently staying in Montenegro and whose extradition Serbia requests is Goran Sokovic, a close associate of the drug lord Darko Saric. Both Sokovic and Saric are charged with organising the smuggling of over two tons of cocaine from South America to Europe.
