Montenegro and the EU have signed an agreement on security procedures for the exchange and protection of classified information. It has been jointly concluded that the signing of the agreement is just one more confirmation of high-quality cooperation and mutual trust between Montenegro and the EU. EU, Montenegro sign agreement The agreement was signed by Head of Montenegrin Mission to the EU Aleksandar Pejovic and Director General for External and Politico-Military Affairs in the European Council Robert Cooper. They have assessed that the exchange of confidential data in the field of common foreign, security and defense policies will have a growing significance in relations between Montenegro and the EU, keeping in mind the achieved progress and the upcoming phase in the EU accession process. Once the agreement takes power, it will enable the exchange of secret information between Montenegro and the EU through special technical arrangements in the future. “This will provide high-quality monitoring and Montenegro’s participation in activities of mutual interests, such as the recent involvement of the Montenegrin army in the Atalanta operation in the Somali territorial waters,” the announcement reads.
