A day after the Bosnian Appeals Court decreased the prison sentence of Momir Savic from 18 to 17 years, he has disappeared. A warrant for his immediately arrest has been issued. Convicted war criminal flees Savic was found guilty of participating in persecuting, abusing, and killing civilians in September 1992 near Visegrad and Rudog. He was the member of an “unconfirmed paramilitary formations,” and then a commander in the Visegrad Brigade of the Republic of Srpska Army. The Bosnian Court released Savic from custody temporarily on December 17, 2008, after it was decided that he could no longer have any influence over potential witnesses when out of custody. Savic had to hand in his personal documents in and he was prohibited from leaving his residents and obligated to regularly report to the local police station.
