PODGORICA --
The Montenegrin Health Ministry has prohibited hospital visits in an effort to stop the spreading of the swine flu.
The prohibition will remain in power until the epidemiological situation has improved, the ministry stated.
Tests have shown that a five year-old girl from Herceg Novi has contracted the H1N1 virus, Director of the Kotor general hospital Nebojša Bjelić said.
Bjelić said that the mother and seven year-old brother of the infected girl have probably caught the virus as well.
There have been 33 registered cases of the swine flu thus far in Montenegro.
The government’s working group for combating the flu has stated that the country’s health facilities are ready for the expected wave of infections and that municipal crisis groups are being formed to deal with the potential epidemic.
