Croatian Health Minister Darko Milinovic says an inquiry is under way into claims that a doctor from Otocac refused to treat a patient because he was a Serb. “If the claims turn out to be true, then there will be no place for this doctor in the Croatian health care system,“ Milinovic said. Serb political representatives in Croatia maintain that the doctor, Esad Mujkanovic, refused to treat a Serb patient from Vrhovin, who was diagnosed as having suffered a stroke at another hospital. Croatian doctor to be investigated Besides the Health Ministry, the incident has also been condemned by the local authorities and the UNHCR.
