The former director of the Croatian Railways Management has denids claims that he planned to defraud the state of EUR 3mn. According to Zagreb daily Jutarnji List, Davorin Kobak was to team up with former Serbian Railways chief Milanko Sarancic in order to carry out the crime. Ex-railways chief denies wrongdoing The money pertains to a part of the debt which the Serbian side was scheduled to pay back. The newspaper said that Serbian police (MUP) officers had given their Croatian counterparts wiretapped conversations between Kobak and Sarancic, which reveal how the pair planned to carry out the operation, involving several mediators. Croatian MUP official Krunoslav Borovec reacted by confirming that the Serbian MUP had contacted them. But he also said that there was no investigation against Kobak, and that the recent changes at the top of the Croatian Railways "had not been conducted under police orders".
