British PM criticizes Croatian fans He mentioned the behavior of Croatian fans in Zagreb last year toward England's Emile Heskey as "the most recent worst example". "Croatia should have been forced to have their games behind closed doors or something. They didn't take tough enough discipline with them,” said Brown. Football and footballers can serve as a role model to many young people and wiping out racist behavior at games is therefore important, the British premier said. Ferdinand, a regular in the England national squad, was a severe critic of the “monkey chants” with which some audience members offended Heskey, for which the Croatian Football Association was fined GBP 15,000. The Manchester Utd. footballer also believes that punishment in these cases should be more rigorous.
