Croatian police are continuing to search for Zeljko Milovanovic, 42, whom media reports say is the prime suspect in the murders of Ivo Pukanic and Niko Franjic. The media in Zagreb are reporting today that Milovanovic is suspected of bringing the explosives to the scene, in front of the magazine's offices, on a scooter. Croatia's state television, HRT, says that Milovanovic "could soon be arrested in Belgrade". Meanwhile, B92's reporter in Sarajevo says that the Bosnian security services have gathered new information, which they expect will lead them to the suspect soon. On Friday night, Milovanovic reportedly narrowly escaped arrest in the RS town of Doboj. Milovanovic carries both Croatian and Bosnian passports, and is wanted on an Interpol arrest warrant for allegedly committing crimes in Slavonia in the 1990s. He was a member of the Serbian state security, and later MUP unit JSO. Belgrade weekly Vreme's Filip Svarm, who authored a documentary about the unit, says that in addition to the war crimes charges, Milovanovic is wanted in Serbia for robbing a bank and shooting at a police officer. "I do not believe that such a man can maintain ties with criminogenic structures that are political, he is simply a hired gun. This kind is apparently used by everyone. He kills for money, he is obviously a skilled man, and obviously has support from the criminal structures," Svarm believes. In Zagreb, Croatian MUP has found out during the investigation so far that the suspects received EUR 150,000 for the murder. Jutarnji List daily writes today that Milovanovic made the mistake of leaving the scooter at the scene, walking for about a kilometer with a helmet still on, to then remove it, believing he was safe. That is when security cameras captured his image. Another local daily, Vecernji List, says that fugitive suspect Bojan Guduric rented an apartment close to the Nacional building, under the name "Kajzer Franc". The apartment was believed to have been used to monitor Pukanic's movements, and was the location from which the explosives were detonated. Amir Malafani, Robert Matanic and Luka Matanic are also in custody charged with involvement in the two murders. Jutarnji List says that Robert Matanic has confessed to the charges, saying that, not knowing what it would be used for, he gave Milovanovic and Guduric his scooter as a payback for their favors during his arrest in Belgrade in 2005.
