Montenegro is today celebrating the day it has set as the Statehood Day. Official Podgorica commemorates two events from its history that took place on July 13: the day the country became independent in 1878, and the day the anti-fascist uprising started in 1941. Montenegro celebrates statehood day President Filip Vujanovic hosted a reception in the ancient capital of Cetinje last night, attended by representatives of Montenegro's political, cultural, scientific, economic and public life, as well as by foreign diplomats. The reception also saw this year's July 13 Awards go to author Mirko Kovac, painter Mihailo Jovicevic and university professor Zoran Rasovic.
