Italian police has placed Croatian Serb Sreten Pesalic in custody today. Pesalic was tried and found guilty in absentia in 2002 by a Croatian court on a war crimes indictment. Italy arrests Serb over war crimes Pesalic wasworking as driver in the Italian city of Verona. Croatia charged and found him guilty for being a member of a Serb paramilitary group during the 1991 war in that country, and for "taking part in forcible removal of Croats from their homes in Slavonia". An international warrant for his arrest was issued based on the Sibenik court ruling.
