Robbers take EUR 3mn at Sarajevo Airport At least four men, wearing the insignia of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s special police, the State Investigation and Protection Agency, overpowered three staff members in Sarajevo airport's cargo building and seized bags containing the money. There has been no confirmation of the amount of money stolen, but according to estimates it is between 2-6 million Convertible Marks (EUR 1-3mn). The money, which belongs to the ABS Bank, had been transported earlier on Wednesday from Zenica, under police escort, local media reported. Part of the forecourt of Sarajevo airport was taped off with yellow crime scene tape and the area in front of the Customs building was under heavy police scrutiny, witnesses told Balkan Insight. Taxis and other vehicles were prevented from entering the airport as around thirty uniformed and plain-clothes police officers sealed off the area. Local media reported that the vehicle believed to have been used by the robbers, an Audi Q7, was later found, burnt out, not far from the airport. The ABS Bank's majority stake was earlier this year bought by Austria's Steiermarkische Bank und Sparkassen AG.
