Mladen Ivanic, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, has been indicted for abuse of office. Ivanic, the leader of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP), and 12 others were issued with indictments by the Bosnia-Herzegovina State Prosecutor on Tuesday. Former Bosnian Serb leader indicted The case known as "Srpske Sume" (Srpska Forests) concerns illegal logging and theft of public forestry resources, the proceeds of which were used to finance Ivanic's PDP pre-election campaign in 2001 and 2002, according to the prosecution. The 13 Bosnian Serbs are accused of forming a joint criminal enterprise in 2001 when Ivanic, as the Serb Entity's premier, made an out-of-court settlement with Trgokomerc, allowing the company to cut timber in the Ribnik area in lieu of moneys owed to it by the RS government and the Ribnik municipality. The prosecution alleges that neither the RS government nor the municipality of Ribnik owed any money to Trgokomerc. The money obtained from the illegal logging was allegedly used to finance the PDP's pre-election campaign. Together with Ivanic, the Prosecutor has charged Zoran Djeric, Miro Jurisic, Perica Bundalo, Rodoljub Trkulja, Stojko Blagojevic, Zoran Supeta, Dragisa Dragutinovic, Zdenko Sakana, Milorad Marjanovic, Mirko Rokvic, Radenko Borojevic and Novica Davidovic. Most are PDP members or directors of forestry companies in the RS. Ivanic refused to comment on the indictment. In a statement issued on Wednesday, however, RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, who has criticised the State Court and State Prosecutor's Office in the past, suggested that Ivanic, a key player in the current Bosnian Serb campaign against the Office of the High Representative, is the victim of a "political reprisa."
