When, as he says, Borrell gave up on talks for normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina and tried to find a solution only for license plates.

Regarding the postponement of the decision on fines for unregistered license plates, Kurti said that it is not time to talk about new delays, but to make maximum efforts to reach an agreement within 48 hours in order to find a solution for the full normalization of relations by March 2023, which, as he claims, was the goal of the talks in Brussels, "and not to limit ourselves to things such as the issue of license plates".

He said that he did not speak with Borrell after yesterday's talks in Brussels and states that the USA is now in contact with Brussels.

Kurti said that he is optimistic that a solution will be found within 48 hours, for which time, at the request of the USA, he postponed the imposition of fines and stated that the U.S. Ambassador in Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, is "doing his best in talks with Brussels".

"Since the end of the last meeting within the eight-hour talks we had yesterday, I have not communicated with Josep Borrell, who, I regret to repeat, abandoned the Franco-German proposal as an EU proposal.

Kurti announced tonight that he accepts the request of the USA and that he is postponing the imposition of fines on drivers of vehicles with Serbian license plates for 48 hours.

Previously, Hovenier announced that the US was concerned that Belgrade and Pristina had not reached an agreement to resolve the crisis in Kosovo and Metohija and stated that the US had asked the government in Pristina to postpone the application of fines for 48 hours, in order to allow the EU and the US to continue engaging in finding a solution.
