Vučić to meet President of the European Council Michel: "A sincere friend of Serbia"

Today, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, will host the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, Office for Media Relations of the President of the Republic announced.

The program of the visit envisages a tour of the companies in the Science and Technology Park and the signing of an agreement on a joint project at 2.45 p.m.

Vučić and Michel are scheduled to meet at the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic at 4 p.m., followed by statements for the media by the two officials at 5 p.m.

On Sunday, President Vučić said that he expected good talks with Michel on Serbia's European future.

"Charles Michel is a sincere friend of our country, I really think so, and he helped us with the derogation of the rules for third countries, together with Ursula von der Leyen. Thank you for that", Vucic said at the time.

On Wednesday, Michel proposed the formation of a European geopolitical community that would contribute to the rapprochement and strengthening of cooperation between European countries, including the Western Balkans, in solving common challenges, promoting peace, stability and security on the continent.

"The countries of the Western Balkans, the countries joining our Eastern Partnership and other European countries with which we have close relations are the first ones I am thinking of here. The leaders of the countries that would participate in this project would meet at least twice a year, while foreign policy would be the most important area of ​​cooperation within that community", Michel said.

By visiting Serbia, Michel will start a Balkan tour, during which he will travel from Belgrade to Albania on May 20, and then to Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he will be until May 21.
