"We are not asking for a special treatment for Novak Djokovic"

In an interview with the British agency Reuters, Prime Minister emphasized that she hopes that the final decision will be made soon.

"We understand the restrictive epidemiological measures in Australia, we are not asking for any special treatment for Novak Djokovic, but only to be treated equally and get a fair chance", said the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic.

Brnabic told the BBC, a day after she spoke with the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, that Serbia is with Djokovic, but that it is also important that the two countries have strong cooperation.

Prime Minister also commented on the fact that Djokovic was positive for coronavirus on December 16, and a day later in Belgrade he attended an event organized by the Tennis Association of Serbia.

"If so, then it is a clear violation of the rules, however, what we do not know when he really saw his results, so there is a gray area and I think the only answer can be provided by Novak," said Brnabic, adding that she doesn't understand why someone does not want to be vaccinated, but that it is democratic to respect everyone's decision.

Brnabic, who spoke with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Monday night, claiming that Serbian government was ready to provide guarantees that Djokovic would respect local regulations while in Australia.
