"I said Pristina would lie - and I was right"

The president said this concerned the latest statements out of Pristina, such as that the implementation of the agreement, and a UN chair for Kosovo, "are a package."

Responding to reporters in Nis on Wednesday, Vucic said that he had already heard "all those various statements" - and that he "warned they would lie about everything and say anything, just so the Serbs wouldn't start forming the ZSO on April 20."

He pointed out that he "told this to (EU foreign policy chief) Federica Mogherini and to Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel" - and would tell the same to EU Council President Donald Tusk this evening in Belgrade. Vucic also stressed that "Europe and the world" remain silent to "all these lies from Pristina and the fact they will not fulfill obligations from the Brussels agreement."

"All contracts are valid only for Serbs," Vucic said, adding that it was "up to us to continue walking a thin line" and continue "fighting for Serbia" - while that "there is no justice there, and we cannot expect it."

"Our position is difficult and it's not been that way since yesterday," said Vucic, adding that "those experts who led the country" before should be asked about the reason it was in such a position - adding, "We are looking to get as much as we can and lose as little as we must."

Vucic also said today that Serbia is facing a difficult fight to preserve the independence of the country.

"Because when we talk about Kosovo, we do not talk to those we should, that is to Kosovo, but to its powerful protectors... It's a problem when you need to talk to those who were destroying Serbia in 1999 and recognized state of Kosovo in 2008. They are very mighty and powerful," Vucic said in Nis.

The president, who was in this southern town for the opening a new Leoni plant, said that "Serbia must be reasonable and rational, preserve its independence and protect the country, but in no way endanger it."

"We want to have peace and a future," Vucic said.

He said he "tells world leaders to their face all the things his predecessors did not dare in the past 20 to 25 years," but "always takes care of Serbia because he wants the country to have a greater reputation."

"I want us to be respected both in the East and in the West. You deserve it because with your choice you enabled Serbia to move forward," Vucic said, addressing a crowd.
