PM revisits controversial "Russia or EU" interview
PM revisits controversial "Russia or EU" interviewCommenting on her recent interview with Bloomberg, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Tuesday that the news agency had not reported her statement, but its interpretation thereof.
This is according to Tanjug, which said Bloomberg "reported her as saying Serbia would side with the EU if it had to choose between Moscow and Brussels."
"No one in the international arena has requested Serbia to choose between Russia and the EU," Brnabic stressed on Tuesday.
"Serbia is thinking about its economic interests, its role in political frameworks, it is thinking about the best interest of its citizens. Our strategic path is the EU, but we have traditional ties with the Russian people and economic ties, because Russia is a big market," Brnabic said, and added that it would not be rational to have bad relations with Russia.
She said that the most important thing is that Serbia has an honest policy towards each of its partners.
"Everyone knows Serbia's policy - they know that that the strategic path is to the EU, they know about friendship with Russia and China, and we are trying to have increasingly improved contacts with the United States," Brnabic said.
