The centenary of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Denmark has been marked at the Central Military Club of the Serbian Army in Belgrade.

Serbia and Denmark celebrate century of diplomatic relations

Djordjevic said that in addition to significant historical and cultural heritage of both countries, "centuries of cooperation that promotes exchanges at all levels" has also been very stimulating.

"Friends are supportive of one another, and I take this opportunity to thank you for your support. As defense minister, I am proud of the fact that our defense cooperation is among the top priorities of the Ministry of Defense, and that, despite the announcement of reduced support to projects of stabilization and reform of the defense system, our colleagues from Copenhagen have found a way to continue multi-year projects and finalize them," said Djordjevic.

According to a statement published on the website of the Ministry of Defense, he stressed that at the time of the biggest impact of the economic crisis that affected the world, the Kingdom of Denmark invested more than two million euros directly in the reform of the defense system of Serbia.

"I believe that our cooperation can be even better if in the coming period we manage to raise our military-economic cooperation to a higher level," said Djordjevic.

Morten Skovgaard Hansen said that defense cooperation included an important capacity building project, and "excellent cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Serbia."

"Today, Serbia is increasingly a partner in international peacekeeping missions and you can be proud of that. I am confident that relations between our two countries will continue to grow," he said.

Members of the Prince of Denmark's Ensemble, and the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia named after Stanislav Binicki also took part in the celebration.
