"I asked Thaci - how tall is the wall around your house?"

"I asked Thaci - how tall is the wall around your house?"

According to Nikolic, the times when "some individuals from foreign states" had monuments raised and streets named after them by Pristina, while still alive, are now "over."

"That will obviously no longer be a world trend," he thinks.

The president said Tuesday's meeting in Brussels was "difficult" and produced an agreement - insisted on by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini - that its participants would refrain from "making statements" and find ways to ease tensions and "see what has been fulfilled and which things can be fulfilled faster, and which slower."

"And of course, Albanians cheated and created a whole show out of that, where they claimed they had finally confronted the Serb delegation with an independent Kosovo," Nikolic told reporters in Lisbon, where he is on an official visit.

However, he stressed, this was in fact "a conversation during which the Pristina delegation was told everything openly, where Serbia clearly and in front of Mogherini said it would not recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo even if that were a condition for joining the EU."

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci's main standfast during the discussion was, "here's the EU, you'll never join if you don't recognize Kosovo," said Nikolic.

"Mogherini did not confirm that, while we dismissed it as a condition that can't even me made," he stressed.

The president then observed that he was now free to discuss the meeting, considering that Pristina's representatives broke the agreement, "unlike Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic who respected it and didn't talk about that."

"They said they achieved their goal, made the territory whole, secured sovereignty and that they are no longer interested in any part of territory they could take from Serbia, now that they have their own state, and of course, that is bound to provoke one to say it all to them. We've told them lots of things, both about their behavior and about the wall (near the bridge in Kosovska Mitrovica) and the failure to meet their obligations, and about the future that they have assigned to citizens of Kosovo and Metohija by bringing special units where they must not be," Nikolic said.

He added that he asked the representatives of Pristina "what would have happened in Belgrade did the same."

"You brought everything you have, both the weapons and the tools - what would have happened if we did, too? To start a war? Was that the wish?," Nikolic asked.

He said he also asked during the meeting "what Pristina would have used to stop a train traveling directly from Belgrade to Kosovska Mitrovica for the first time after 18 years, and what orders their commander had."

"They said he had no orders, but was to decide, in the field. Decide what? Whether the engine driver was big or small, whether there were 50 or 100 passengers, how many they would kill, what they would do?," Nikolic said.

He added that the representatives of Belgrade warned Pristina the agreement was that the wall in Kosovska Mitrovica would be be 80 centimeters tall, but that Pristina abandoned that agreement and now wants the barrier completely removed.

"I asked Thaci, 'how tall is the wall around your house - three meters? Then why are you bothered by an 80-centimeter wall, is it that you never saw one so low in your life?'," Nikolic said.
