“Dear citizens,

I would like to inform you today, on the last day of the current year 2016, when the state Treasury is shut and no more payments can be made that the Serbian government has recorded a surplus in the budget of RSD 4.2 billion.

You, the citizens of Serbia, were able to make this remarkable result, despite all the challenges, especially given the fact that in 2016 we had to pay RSD 128.5 billion for the interest on the public debt only.

We have surplus in the state coffers thanks to your work, discipline and faith that we can change ourselves and our country.

I wish you a successful New Year, a lot of work, and the treasury of our Serbia will be safe and fuller and fuller. This means that with each day, each month and each year you will live easier and more safely.
