Serbia not under threat from terrorism - minister

Responding to a reporter's question, Stefanovic said security had been heightened for two years now to protect the citizens of Serbia from threats.

"That quite depends on intelligence work. We are relying on intelligence cooperation with partner services in the region and in the country, " Stefanovic said.

Police presence at mass events has been stepped up, while vital facilities, such as waterworks and electrical grids, are under special surveillance, he said.

Police presence will also be sufficient during the New Year holidays, Stefanovic said.

"I expect everything to go peacefully and that there will be no security threats whatsoever," he said.
