"His Highness Thaci" to address Kosovo Assembly
"Eight years ago Kosovo self-proclaimed independence, calling itself a republic. Perhaps there were other ambitions, too, but at least for now, it's not known that a monarchy has been introduced. Still, this tiny detail does not prevent Hashim Thaci from being 'his highness'," the daily said.Namely, that is the title used in the invitation, which reads: "The President of Kosovo, His Highness Hashim Thaci, will address the members of the Assembly."
The "language incident" represents a violation of the law and the right to equal use of the Serbian language, said the newspaper, adding that "perhaps there is a New Year's wish and a hidden ambition lurking behind it, too."
Another self-declared Kosovo royalty in recent years has been former President Atifete Jahjaga, who was referred to as "her highness" in the Serbian language invitations to a New Year's reception, that she signed.
But, writes the daily, Jahjaga will be remembered for another "language incident" - for congratulating Catholic and Orthodox Christians Easter on Christmas, and doing it two years in a row.
