Srbijagas as IMF's "only objection" - PM

"We have tackled all other objections, and we will pass all reviews, which is what the citizens expect and what is very important for them," Vucic said at "The Economist: The World in 2017" conference, held at the Serbian National Assembly in Belgrade.

Vucic also said that his goal is to "continue to decrease the budget deficit - which is possible when your finances are in order and you have a disciplined government."

The prime minister added it was "possible" that there would be no deficit in this year's budget, "despite the fact we've never spent more this December than any other December."

Vucic also remarked that the U.S. Federal Reserve's decision to hike interest rates "increased Serbia's public debt by 80 million euros the same second" - but that this was "not too big a problem, because Serbia has economic stability."

In his address at the opening of the conference, Vucic said that "no one should be worried about the future of Serbia because it has a stable economic situation, which is based on organized public finances."

"The situation in the world in political and economic terms is complicated and complex, while the situation in Serbia is complicated due to the situation in the region, but with better prospects than on the global scene," he said.

According to the estimates, the average growth in Europe, at the level of member states, will be between 1.5 and 1.8 percent, while the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts a three percent growth for Serbia, Vucic noted "and expressed confidence that it will reach even four percent."

He "underlined that Serbia will build next year stronger and more stable relations with countries in the region, which is important for economic growth, and announced a visit to India in January 2017, which a serious growing economy," the Serbian government said.

"Serbia will also monitor with great attention the economic policies of the Russian Federation, as well as economic developments in China, given the impact of the Chinese economy on the global economic trends," Vucic said.
