Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential race.

"Only those with eyes shut couldn't see Trump's victory"

Nikolic also said he would ask the Serbian government to prepare an analysis about the influence Trump's election will have "on Serbia's economy, investments, and foreign debt."

"We must now make additional efforts to establish even better friendly relations with the United States," the Serbian president stressed.

Commenting on the outcome of the U.S. vote, Nikolic said that "only those who go through life with their eyes shut" failed to anticipate Trump's victory.

According to him, U.S. citizens elected a new president in democratic elections, by expressing their will freely.

"The world is changing, the elites are falling, there's no longer those who are known in advance to have someone work for them, nor those who will forever work for others. Citizens of America are tired of conflicts with other states and of participation in wars in the territories of others, and have shown through the elections that they do not justify it," Nikolic said.
