Norway is "important partner, friend of Serbia"

Norway is "important partner, friend of Serbia"

"Norway is and will remain an important friend and partner of Serbia, based on values shared and common interests. Serbia is a key country for stability and development in the Western Balkans, and the continuation of European integration will be beneficial to people in Serbia, through higher living standards and the consolidation of political reforms, as well as for South East Europe as a whole, through increased stability and intra-regional trade exchanges," Vucic and Bjornstad stressed, according to the government's website.

Norway "wants to help Serbia on its European path that it has chosen, with the support to the necessary reforms, sustainable economic growth and social development. Given the improved economic situation and the reforms already implemented, the cooperation will move in the direction of increased technical cooperation with ministries and public bodies," Bjornstad said.

He underlined that the embassy will propose to focus its program of cooperation on the support to relevant ministries of the government of the Republic of Serbia in the areas of public procurement and policy of competitiveness, reform of public administration and financial control, and law and order.

Serbia can also expect to benefit from the global and regional programs funded by Norway, including the Investment framework for the Western Balkans and the Regional Fund ("cross-border cooperation") of the European Economic Area, it was concluded at today's meeting.
