"Somebody in Pristina wants Serbia's humiliation" - PM

He told reporters in Belgrade that he found what is being asked of Serbia "incredible," Beta reported. According to the prime minister, Pristina "does not want dialogue, but Serbia's humiliation."

"We are committed to dialogue, we are committed to different kinds of compromises, but that's impossible this way. Countless times we remained silent on nonsense about genocide, not only because we want to make progress on the European path, but also because we are convinced that good relations with Albanians are a prerequisite for progress in the region," said Vucic.

Earlier, Kosovo Minister for Dialogue Edita Tahiri said that Pristina's conditions for the continuation of the Brussels negotiations include "Serbia recognizing Kosovo" as well as "paying war damages, and determining the mutual border."

Vucic today also said he doubted these statements coming out of Pristina were made independently, and described them as "not contributing to solving the problem."

When asked by reporters about "possible attempts to destabilize the situation in the region," Vucic said he was "afraid of nothing" - but hoped that no one wants that outcome.

"I keep hoping that no one wants to destabilize the situation in the Balkans. But, what's been happening doesn't support my hopes... I know Serbia's place and I will never allow anybody to throw a stone at Serbia, without me responding. But I do not want to play a hero with other people's bodies or other people's money. Our job is to preserve peace. We are always ready to talk, but not under such conditions where we are humiliated. One cannot set conditions like that in a dialogue. Then it is not a dialogue. I am afraid there are those who don't understand that," said Vucic.

The prime minister also described the situation as "not simple for many reasons," something he is worried could disrupt the entire region's efforts to attract new investments, "and what is most important, to improve economic results."
