Asked about <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?yyyy=2016&mm=09&dd=26&nav_id=99309" class="text-link" target= "_blank">a possible U.S. veto</a> on his UNSG bid, Vuk Jeremic said it was a thankless task to comment on how UN Security Council members might vote.

Jeremic reluctant to comment on possible U.S. veto

The former Serbian foreign minister and the former UN General Assembly president - who placed second

in the latest UN Security Council informal straw poll that is part of the process to select the new UN secretary-general - said his team continued to work with the Council's permanent members and all those who will vote, head of a new poll scheduled for the first week of October.

The Russian broadcaster said Jeremic was "a man of action and a candidate that stands out."

Jeremic has prepared an 80-page platform to reform the UN, that contains not only his proposals on improving UN's peacekeeping missions, but also concrete proposals to reform the secretariat, reduce bureaucracy, fight corruption, and carry out a general modernization of the organization, adapting it to the 21st century, said Sputnik.
