Nikolic confirms he will open consulate in St. Petersburg

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic confirmed on Thursday he would open<a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?yyyy=2016&mm=09&dd=15&nav_id=99214" class="text-link" target= "_blank"> an honorary consulate</a> of Serbia in Saint Petersburg in October.

Nikolic confirms he will open consulate in St. Petersburg

Serbia has never had an honorary consulate in Saint Petersburg, one of the most significant Russian cities, Nikolic said.

Discussions about opening the consulate, which had been underway for the past two years, have now been finally brought to a conclusion after a certain delay, Nikolic said.

Historically, many Serbian delegations have travelled to St. Petersburg to seek support and many Serbian military commanders have left their mark in the city, as have Russians in the Serbian military, Nikolic said.
