Vucic reiterates: Belgrade does not support RS referendum

They also "highlighted the importance of construction of infrastructure, such as roads and bridges which connect the Republic of Serbia and Republika Srpska (Serb Republic), as well as joint investments in cultural and educational projects."

"It was particularly agreed to continue the joint investment in the Andric Institute in Visegrad and further participation in the celebration of different dates in the national history of the Serbian people," said the government website, adding:

"Vucic and Dodik also spoke about issues of importance for regional peace and stability and agreed that peace is the most important precondition for progress and a safe future of the Serbian people in the Western Balkans, but also of all the other people who live in these lands."

Dodik "informed Vucic once again that the referendum in the RS in the current conditions will definitely be held if the Constitutional Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina does not modify or change its ruling in the meantime and return the decision-making to the beginning."

Vucic "reiterated the official positions of the Republic of Serbia presented last week at a meeting in the Presidency of Serbia, and expressed the hope and belief that the Republic of Serbia and the RS will continue to make their relations closer and more intensive."

In a joint statement handed out to reporters after a meeting with Serb leaders from Bosnia-Herzegovina on September 1, Serbia's president and prime minister said they did not support the referendum, "but do not want to influence in any way a change in political attitudes of the legitimately elected politicians in that entity."
