"Juncker's letter makes explaining pro-EU stance difficult"

"That, too, is good to know," Vulin concluded.

EC spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic confirmed for Tanjug late on Wednesday that EC President Jean-Claude Juncker had responded to Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic's letter to top EU officials, where Vucic "pointed to the situation in the region and a sheer anti-Serb policy, in Croatia in particular."

She said Juncker "expressed concern over latest developments in the relations between Serbia and Croatia, urging a return to a constructive bilateral engagement."

Good-neighborly relations, regional cooperation and reconciliation are fundamental principles that must be respected by all EU membership candidates and potential candidates, as well as all EU member states in the region, he noted.

The principles are an obligation for the entire region, and the EC has always been strongly committed to ensuring respect for victims and remembrance of war crimes committed in Europe, Juncker also said.
