But Nikolic' position on the issue is not surprising, the LDP continued - "considering that he was a part of a policy which he would now, as the president, have to condemn."

"That is why a clear system of values, that ​​we have been talking about for years, is needed, that is why a policy is needed that will take a clear position on the causes of the current problems of the country, the most dominant among them being the wrong policy symbolized by Milosevic - a policy of nationalism, war, crimes, political assassinations, stifling of democracy," said the party's statement, and added:

"Milosevic's monuments are March 9 (1991), the protests of 1996-1997, the lime pit on Mt. Fruska Gora into which Ivan Stambolic was thrown after he was shot in the back of the head on Milosevic's orders, the battered citizens in front of cordons and thugs, the mass graves in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kosovo. All of these are monuments that speak about everything Nikolic, Dacic, and the like will not, and dare not, and everything they would like to hide with some allegedly new monument."
