Croatia no longer obstacle to opening EU chapters

B92 has learned that Croatia during the past period presented its objections related to the opening of the said chapters that have been taken into account during discussions with other EU members.

Earlier on Monday, Aleksandar Vucic, who is in Paris for the Western Balkans Conference, said he was not ruling out such an outcome and the possibility that the problem of the blockade of chapters 23 and 24 could be solved on Monday during informal talks with representatives of Croatia and EU officials.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Great Britain would green light the opening of the chapters as well.

Also earlier on Monday, Tanjug reported that Serbia will likely open chapters 23 and 24 on July 19. However, Beta's European Commission sources said that negotiations were ongoing.

Croatia has been blocking Serbia's EU accession process for over three months. It was announced last week that Croatia did not consent to the opening of chapter 23 "for essential reasons."
