"Vucic to be given mandate"; LDP ready to talk with SNS
Djurisic said Nikolic informed representatives of the electoral list “Alliance for a Better Serbia” comprising the SDS, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) about his plans to name Vucic prime minister-designate by the end of the day.“The president believes Vucic has a majority given his election result and expects him to conduct further talks on the participation of other parties in the government,” Djurisic said.
Cedomir Jovanovic, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) said on Monday that if Aleksandar Vucic invited him to be in government, he would discuss it with him, adding that seeing a different politics pursued was much more important to him than having a governmental seat.
"We are interested in a politics that has to be different. The issue of government is not just an issue of seats, but rather the ability to provide answers to all the questions left open by the outgoing government," Jovanovic told reporters.
The LDP leader said that the people of Serbia could expect of them an uncompromising fight for European integration, stability and peace in the region and democratization of society, adding that he was not sure if Aleksandar Vucic was pursuing such a policy at all times.
Asked whether he talked with Vucic about his possible entry into government, Jovanovic said he had not and that he would inform the public about it if and when it happened.
"I think it would be normal for them (the SNS) to talk to me and to others, and what the answer would be, I'm afraid I cannot tell you that," said Jovanovic.
